Dimeo Construction Company completed the new 186,258 sf Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering for the University of Rhode Island, College of Engineering. The new “H”-shaped facility, which includes a walk-out lower level, 6-story bridge structure and 2 – 4 story office wings, replaces five separate buildings built in the 1950 and 60’s. The first floor, located on the Quad level, has a large south-facing commons and computer lab, and features a clear span commons area with café, with no columns, as part of the bridge structure. The first floor also features a combination of instructional labs and interactive classrooms opening up to student interaction spaces. The upper floors comprise flexible, modular labs near the faculty offices and graduate student workstations.
Dimeo Construction Company also completed the renovation of Bliss Hall. This adjacency works to create a research environment that encourages and supports collaboration and interaction.
The new Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering obtained LEED Silver rating.
