Dimeo Construction Company recently completed Phase 2 of the MA College of Art and Design (MassArt), Bakalar & Paine Galleries renovations. This 45,000 sf project, designed by designLAB, consisted of work primarily focused on the interior renovation of the gallery affiliated spaces and the completion of the plaza initiated in Phase 1. Interior work included extensive demolition, full abatement of asbestos containing materials, upgrading the building systems, conforming to current ADA accessibility standards, addition of an elevator and re-configuring spaces to allow for the introduction of new, and expansion of current, gallery programs. The above work generated full compliance for the South Building Classroom spaces. This involved renovation of classroom and support space inclusive of demolition of all the MEP’s and installation of new plumbing and electrical systems. ADA accessibility and life safety issues were also upgraded for code compliance.
