Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the new Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art facility for campus recreation and intramural sports designed by Cannon Design.
The new 52,000 sf facility — colloquially referred to as “The Jo” — will offer a new home to campus recreation, through a wide range of fitness and wellness spaces, including sports courts, weight rooms, a golf simulator, three rooms for yoga, cycling and fitness, and a one-tenth-mile suspended jogging track overlooking Worcester.
The three-story facility will also be home to club and intramural sports and house an expanded office for Public Safety. Even the vending machines are getting an upgrade and will offer all-healthy options. The Jo is slated for completion by Fall 2020.
The Campus Recreation Center designed by Cannon Design is a new 52,000 gsf facility that replaced the former Field House on the College of the Holy Cross campus. It includes a 4,000 sf lower level area for the Public Safety Department. Demolition of the existing Field House was by others prior to the start of this project.
The three-story Recreation Center consists of a two-court gymnasium with an elevated one tenth mile jogging track, weights and fitness, multipurpose rooms, and support facilities such as lockers and administrative offices. The lower level serves as the primary location for campus police and security.
