Citizens Financial Group selected Dimeo Construction Company to serve as their construction manager for the new corporate campus on an undeveloped parcel of land west of I-295 in Johnston, RI.
The site work, with many unknowns, and infrastructure were major undertakings for this project. Enabling the utilities to the project site required the installation of over two miles of underground piping, and almost that distance in overhead wiring.
Removal of the existing landfill and blasted bedrock, which required large quantities of explosives, were required to prepare the land for construction. Landfill removal started in May 2016, with site preparation beginning three months later. Approximately 550,000 cubic yards of earth were removed preceding the installation of drainage systems.
The campus includes approximately 425,000 sf of office space and 1,300 parking spaces. The building includes meeting spaces, collaborative workspaces, dining, and fitness facilities — as well as baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, and trails used by the local community. In total, approximately 3,000 employees occupy the new campus.
