Dimeo Construction Company was awarded the Rapid Response Facility Projects in Rhode Island which consisted of three sites for temporary hospital facilities during the COVID-19 crisis. This assignment best identifies our commitment to our home state of Rhode Island and showcases our ability to react immediately to client needs, to work with multiple government bodies and execute a hyper fast track project.
One site was the conversion of the Rhode Island Convention Center into an alternate hospital with approximately 550 patient beds and support services. Each semi private bed was also serviced by individual electric receptacles and dedicated oxygen service. Support areas included registration, nursing stations, testing facility, pharmacy preparation and outpatient services.
Another site was the conversion of the previous Citizens Bank headquarters in Cranston. The project was a fast track, 24/7 commitment that required Dimeo to manage a 150-person crew working roughly 1,000 workforce hour days. Dimeo, along with the Design team, the OPM and most importantly the selected subcontractors remodeled a 75,000 sf office space into a temporary medical facility. The facility was fully equipped with new mechanical & electrical systems, over 300 individual beds, nurse’s stations, bathrooms and showers with the appropriate supports spaces needed to manage the medical layout.
The final site was the conversion of a previous Lowe’s home improvement store into an alternate hospital with approximately 530 patient beds and support services. Each semi private bed was also serviced by individual electric receptacles and dedicated oxygen service. Support areas included registration, nursing stations, testing facility, pharmacy preparation and outpatient services.
Dimeo was later onboarded to dismantle the field hospital in late October 2020.
