Phase 1 construction of the new 400,000 square foot Newton North High School consists of a two story, academic/athletic building and four story interconnected classroom & academic wings containing a theater, indoor swimming pool, an exhibition gymnasium and related athletic support facilities, automotive, carpentry, electrical, graphics/printing, and culinary arts facilities, athletic fields, parking and vehicle circulation, site utilities, landscaping and associated site improvements. Subsequent to phase 1 completion and occupancy of the new school buildings, phase 2 of the project will entail demolition of the existing high school and construction of new parking and playing fields at the current building footprint. The new school will be a LEED certifiable facility.
